Often you can buy euro pallets at wood companies. You can also surf the Internet and then search for "buy pallets" and both new and used pallets will appear. Euro pallets are EPAL certified and therefore a responsible choice to work with. They are assessed not only in terms of materials but also in terms of sturdiness. Average prices for a used pallet are between 7 and 10 euros and a new one around 12 to 15 euros. Please note that there is a deposit on most pallets. This amount can vary from one supplier to another. It is therefore wise to ask for a quote from various companies in advance.

At what price can you buy pallets

If you look online for used pallets, you can often buy them from as little as € 7. It is important to look carefully at the quality of the pallet. If it is too worn, you can also buy a new one for around €15. It just depends on what purposes you need it for. Are you going to make garden furniture of it then it must be solid. If it is a decoration rack then the quality does not necessarily matter. If you are a bulk consumer it is best to request quotes from different companies. By doing so you can save enormously on the purchase. And you contribute to a better environment for the next generation.

What are pallets made for?

A pallet is often used for the storage of goods. But you can also use a pallet for transporting goods. If you buy Euro pallets, you can also use them for international transport. This is because every European country uses these pallets and they are the same size. You can recognise this by the branding on the spools.

Buying pallets and using the exchange system

Did you know that when you go to buy a pallet you can also use an exchange system. Often suppliers have an amount of deposit on the pallet. So never just throw them away. They do this to ensure that the pallets do not end up in the trash while you can still use them. Pallets are also exchanged with suppliers at trade fairs. The supplier usually takes the empty pallet back and delivers a fully loaded one. If the buyer does not have a pallet, a deposit will be charged. Because of the low price of a pallet, repair is more expensive than replacement, which is why all Euro pallets have a deposit anyway.

Buy wooden pallets

When you buy a wooden pallet you often go for quality. A wooden pallet is heated to 56 degrees at the core to be able to carry exactly the right load. In critical cases, they may be fumigated, but this has been officially banned since 2015. They are also treated against fungi and other bacteria. The agents that may be used for this purpose have been laid down by the European Union. When you go outside Europe you have different rules.

Buy cardboard pallets

Because we want to work more and more sustainable, there is now also the possibility to buy a cardboard pallet. The biggest advantage is that it weighs 5 times less and is biodegradable. These are mainly used for airfreight and can carry up to 500 kg. Because they are biodegradable you can recycle them without harming the environment. Because they can carry 500 kg, you can use them to transport a fair amount of mail or light materials.

Buy pool system pallets

Pool pallets work without a deposit. So when you buy a pool pallet, you do not lose its value. If they get damaged, it is better to repair them instead of throwing them away. These pallets are usually provided with special colors and if desired with a company logo. So this is mainly used by companies who want to use everything to get publicity. Besides the standard dimensions they are also available in other sizes making this a universal product. Take for example a German supermarket, where you can find them very often. So you are able to transport more stuff at once on 1 pallet.

Special pallets for transporting drinks

You can also buy pallets for transporting heavy weights, such as beverages. These are also called DPB pallets since 1994. The pallets are red and lose their value when they are broken. Retailers pay a deposit of €22.50. They can carry a weight of up to 7000 kg and are therefore ideal for heavy weights. When you use them in a warehouse rack, you can load them with a maximum of 1500 kg to prevent them from breaking. The own weight of the pallet is 23 kilo.

Buy single-use pallets

You can buy a plastic or plastic pallets for single use. They often come with a lid so you can stack them. This ensures that the top and bottom are well secured and do not shift during transport. Another advantage is that you can easily store them because of their convenient weight and size. This allows you to divide your space more efficiently and that gives you some room to move. You can also choose a collapsible pallet box which is even more convenient to store. So you can keep them before you return or use for shipping items.
